ECONOMIC FACTS ABOUT ATVs IN NEW YORK STATE

Total ATV-related spending in New York State during 2002 was $380,000,000.  New York State derived approximately $16,700,000 in sales tax revenues from these purchases.

New York ATV households spent $277 in 2001 for tourism related expenditures, or about $41,500,000.   Nationally, the average household spent $499 on tourism related expenditures.   The loss of tourism dollars related to below average spending in New York State for 2001 was $33 million.

Between 1990 and 2002, more than $3.8 million in ATV registration fees intended for an ATV trail fund was diverted to the state general fund. See the article here:for the
